Metastatic breast cancer, a type of advanced breast cancer, is the cause of death of 6,500 women each year in Spain. With the aim of making visible patients who suffer from both this stage and breast cancer in general, the Ni Vencedoras Ni Vencida initiative was born . For it, the patient associations CMM (Metastatic Breast Cancer Association), FECMA (Spanish Breast Cancer Federation) and GEPAC (Spanish Group of Cancer Patients) have joined together , who have presented this project together with Novartis to the Minister of Health Carolina Darias . Darias has participated together with the promoters of Ni Vencedoras ni Vencida in putting up posters in the streets of Madrid, which are now wallpapered with messages that question whether cancer is a fight, or whether there are winners or losers, thus showing the discomfort of patients faced with the bellicose language used around cancer .
The three collaborating associations claim with this proposal that cancer is not fought, but lived . «This war is not war, but disease; "This battle is not a battle, but an illness, and these heroines are not heroines or champions Phone Number List or princesses, but women who live much longer every day than cancer," they say in the video with which they have been echoed, in which they affirm that Every day breast cancer patients have to deal with people who believe that a positive attitude is everything. "Cheer up" or "if you fight you will be cured" or are some of the most typical phrases. In order to carry out this campaign, supported by the LLYC agency , we have relied on the work and testimony of women who have experienced the disease firsthand or through direct family members. The video that has been used to promote has been directed by Mabel Lozano , social film director, based on a script prepared by the journalist specialized in women's rights Paka Díaz .
Actress Zaida Alonso (Águila Roja, Cuéntame), Eva Díaz Iglesias (director of photography), Ruth Vargas (art director), Ana Encabo (photographer) and Alexandra Gascón-Pelegrí (production) have also participated in it. “The more we make this disease visible, the more we will push for continued research work, in addition to normalizing the word “cancer” itself. It is important to do so so that it finally stops being a taboo,” explained Mabel, recently nominated for the Goya for her latest documentary, 'Biografía del cuerpo de una mujer'. Thus, Ni Vencedoras Ni Vencida aims to function as a tool of inclusion and representation to raise awareness in society about this widespread disease, which in 2020 was diagnosed in 32,953 patients, according to data from the report of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM).
